National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

September 30^th marks the first ever National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a federal holiday established to honour residential school survivors and recognize the lives of those who did not return.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is formally known as Orange Shirt Day, which raises awareness about the intergenerational trauma caused to Indigenous families caused by residential schools.

Our Techsploration team is committed to educating ourselves and upholding the 94 calls to action outlined in the Truth and Reconciliation report.  We stand in solidarity with the survivors and their families.

On this day we encourage all to take actionable steps towards reconciliation.

Ways you can help:

• Purchase your Orange Shirt through Indigenous-owned organizations and designers.
• Take time to learn about Indigenous history in Canada.
• Read the 94 calls to action in the Truth and Reconciliation report.
• Create space for Indigenous people to speak.
• Properly acknowledge the land we live on.
• Support Indigenous businesses.
