Be a Role Model

Ready, SETT, Inspire!

Are you a woman+ working in Science, Engineering, Technology, or Trades (SETT)?

We’re looking for passionate female+ role models from across Nova Scotia to help young women and gender-diverse youth explore exciting, rewarding, and often overlooked careers in these dynamic fields.

Representation matters, and when young people see women+ succeeding in these roles, they start to see those opportunities as possible for themselves.

As a role model, you can participate in a variety of ways, depending on the amount of time you wish to give.

Techsploration Team Role Model
Time Frame: January – May 2026
Time Commitment: Approx. 3 to 4 days

Team Role Models (TRMs) are paired with a group of up to eight grade 9 female+ students from a Nova Scotia school. Together, they prepare a career presentation all about the TRM’s job and journey. Along the way, TRMs host a worksite visit with hands-on activities, share insights about their career path, and provide feedback as the team develops their presentation. The experience concludes with a 1.5-day Techsplorer Event in April/May, where students deliver their final presentations and participate in career exploration activities.

Techsploration Guest (Round Robin) Role Model
Time Frame: Fall and Spring
Time Commitment: Approx. 4 hours per event

Guest Role Models (GRMs) join Techsploration events to inspire young female and gender-diverse participants by sharing their experiences in SETT careers. GRMs may host workshops or take part in round-robin sessions (career-fair style activities where student teams rotate between stations to learn about different roles and career paths). Stations usually feature one employer, often with multiple GRMs on hand to share their insights.
